Bonza's General Design Guidelines

In a perfect world, every Bonza web site would conform totally to these guidelines.

As it's not a perfect world, we rely on Designers to use their common sense...

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! The extra couple of minutes you invest in this exercise will save you the inevitable redos that result from a failure to  READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!

Acknowledge receipt of instructions and advise an estimated time of completion of project.

Priority 1 is speed of loading. Go for a maximum page weight of 15K.

A good indicator of success with the above objective is: No scroll bar.

Never forget: Web sites are not about web sites. No bells or whistles. The web site is about the client's business. Visitors are not interested in what you do. They are interested in what our client does.

No flash. Ever. (Unless stipulated by the client).

No frames. Ever.

Easy navigation top and bottom. (Including a Home button on every page - except the home page). If there's no scroll bar, it's not necessary to have top AND bottom nav.

Javascripts go in external files.

Avoid dark backgrounds unless stipulated.

Avoid nested tables.

Sitemap on all full sites.

Assume this is the first web site the visitor has ever seen. Do not be afraid to use expressions like "Click HERE to SEND US AN EMAIL". We don't want to be cool - we want to be effective.

People can only focus their minds on one thing at a time. No clutter. Don't be afraid of the wide, open space on a web site.

Content (text) is King. Keep images at the top of the page to a minimum - It's very important for text to be as high on the page as possible.

If it's ever necessary to rename an image, rename images with key words.

Starts with a capital
Grey
Hyperlinked EXACTLY thus: http://www.bonzawebsites.com/
Not underlined
Colour does not change when clicked
Leave a space under the credit - not hard up against the bottom of the screen
